YMCA's "Walk with Drew & Friends"
The YMCA, Tennessee Coordinated School Health, UT Extension, Haywood County Health Department, and Healthy Haywood Coalition are sponsoring "Walk with Drew & Friends" from April 6 - June 15. Walks are most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, mornings or evenings, at the L.Z. Hurley Memorial Track, and range in length from 1-4 miles. Everyone is welcome to participate.

 HCS Summer Express coming soon!

Haywood County Schools will once again hold its Summer Express program from June 3 through 14. The popular summer classes are (STEAM) Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math-based with an emphasis on Common Core Standards enrichment.

The applications for Summer Express are in the offices at Haywood Middle, Haywood Elementary and East Side schools. This program is for current first- through seventh-grade students. The application deadline is Friday, May 17, and there is a limited number of student openings. “We will accept applications at each of the schools on a first-come, first-served basis,” Summer Express Director Don Sims said. 

The classes will be held each morning from 8 to 11:45 a.m. Students can come at 7:45 for breakfast and stay until 12:15 for lunch. Bus transportation will be provided on a limited basis.

Alexis Peeples crowned Homecoming Queen

The Haywood High School Basketball Tomcats and Lady Tomcats celebrated homecoming on January 21, selecting Alexis Peeples as the Homecoming Queen. First maid was Bria Jelks and second maid, Trinity Jackson. Also honored were class representatives: seniors – Kendra King and Trenesha Walker, juniors – Unjanae Johnson and Jasmine Taylor, sophomore – Aaliyah Bailey and TyQuesia West, and freshman – Autumn Bond and Idalias Flagg.
