We ended our ‘23-‘24 school year by celebrating the successes of our amazing students. Students were recognized for subject awards, team awards, excellent conduct, perfect attendance, Principal’s Award (all As and Es), and Staff Award (As, Bs, Es, and Ss). We are so proud of each and every student and the growth they made this year! Congratulations!

Lots to celebrate and recognize from the past two days…game truck, top 10 students in the school for AR points, staff kickball game with students cheering, the seniors walking our hallways and showing our students their achievements, academic celebrations for our students with a spectacular staff to entertain and share their hearts with a little number at the end! This school year is winding down and we are proud of the parent and family support! We appreciate the daily opportunities to work with our students toward meeting and exceeding their educational goals.

We spend this week to recognize our teachers and the direct impact they have on our students. The impact on our students also comes from our educational assistants, our office staff, our auxiliary teachers, our cafeteria staff, and our custodians. Every day is built through the hearts of our staff toward a wonderful environment for the students. Our day began with thoughtful gifts from our board office for our teachers and educational assistants! We included a bingo game for prizes with our certified staff and a longer lunch for our assistants!

What a great Student vs. Teacher basketball game! Our middle schoolers were zoned in and beat the teachers this time! Congrats! Students who were present for testing, trying their best and without behavior issues, were able to attend. Families, remember we still have testing next week! 7th graders will test Monday and Tuesday. 8th graders will test Wednesday and Thursday. Students who are here each day and doing their best will be allowed to go to next Friday's Outdoor Celebration.

Haywood FFA had an outstanding year this year, we have seen growth in ways we never imagined. We received three awards at the West TN FFA Awards Banquet, Top 6 in Agriculture Issues, 1st in Meat Evaluation, and Top 3 in Upper Skills. We are so proud of these students! Our very own Advisor John Joyner received the Teacher Mentor award! We are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication he shows to our chapter! Overall we had a great time of fellowship with other members and recognition for our outstanding members of the Haywood FFA chapter!

8th Grade students attended a CTE tour at Haywood High School to explore the programs of study offered before registering for their freshman year. They spoke to high school students enrolled in these courses and got to participate in hands on lessons. We’re proud of our 8th graders and look forward watching their continual growth at HHS!

Haywood FFA had a fantastic time at the 96th Tennessee FFA State Convention! Starting off we had one state degree recipient, Molly Joyner. Molly earned the highest award that you can receive at the state level! Congratulations Molly. Haywood FFA was well represented throughout various competitions as well. Carson Osteen, Rylee Rimmer, and Alexis Moore all competed in the Agriscience Fair Project. Then Nolan Smith competed in the Bullpen Challenge! Congratulations to all of these members as well! Our chapter went on to receive TWO awards at the State Level! The PLOW Silver Award and a Superior Chapter Award!

Earlier this week, HOSA hosted Haywood High School's Spring Blood Drive. We are so excited to announce that once again our students, faculty, and community showed up and showed out. 42 units of blood were donated. That is enough blood to save 126 lives. That combined with the 37 units donated during our Fall blood Drive gives us a yearly total of 79 units donated and 237 lives saved! Way to go HHS

It is Social Worker Appreciation Day at our school. Have you met our Social Worker Ms. D’Erica Jackson? She is originally from Mississippi and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Union University. She has a son and loves spending time with family & friends (especially shopping). She says the highlight of her school day is opening car doors in the morning, greeting our Anderson Cubs. She starts their day off right! We appreciate you!

To finish up a FUN “READ ACROSS AMERICA” week, The Haywood County Family Resource Centers are sending home a “Family Fun Bag” with ALL students at Anderson, Haywood Elementary, and East Side! Inside the bags are fun reading activities to do as a family - a book compliments of our partnering “Save The Children” - and family information on 2 “buckets” that must be filled every day - please complete these activities and see how well “you know your child”! Ms. Debra and Ms. Bridget were excited to deliver the bags to the 3 schools today! Ms. Rutkowski’s class is shown with their bags and are excited to bring home to share with their families! The Resource Centers are open to all Haywood County families and have items for FREE loan for all ages and grades!
