New Director of Coordinated School Health – Elise Powell

Haywood County Schools is excited to announce that Elise Powell will assume the role of Director of Coordinated School Health for the district.

Elise brings 15 years of school to community outreach experience to this position. She previously served as the Project B.A.S.I.C. Instructor for HCS where she provided schools, families, and students with links to a community network of mental health and other related services. She also served as the TennCare Kids Community Outreach worker where she provided direct outreach to families through home visits and community based events. Most recently, Elise was the Director of the Crockett, Hardeman, and Haywood Counties Health Departments. In this role, she navigated the many challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while keeping open and effective communication with all branches of local government.

As the Director of Coordinated School Health for HCS, Elise will assess health and safety needs of students, staff, and families. She will also ensure compliance with state standards and guidelines of Coordinated School Health. Along with those duties, Elise will establish and coordinate efforts among community partners and organizations for the delivery of Coordinated School Health programs.
