Leadership tours schools
Members of 2017 Leadership Haywood County toured the schools on Thursday, February 9, as one of their monthly classes in the Brownsville-Haywood County Chamber of Commerce-sponsored program designed to heighten the awareness of community leaders, workers and volunteers about the community’s strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. Throughout the duration of the program, in addition to the county’s education department, members learn about the community’s economic development, law enforcement, quality of life, and local and state government issues.
Members of the class are (from left) Tim Seymour, Haywood County Schools; Almeta Ellis, City of Brownsville; Juanita Williams, Hardeman County Health Center, Stanton Clinic; Emily Carpenter, Southwest Tennessee Development Dist./REDI; Vicki Young, Brownsville Utilities; Shela Walker, InSouth Bank; Steve Hilton, Brownsville-Haywood County Chamber of Commerce; Taquitta Merriweather, Simmons Bank; and Robby Cates, Brownsville Haywood County Fire Department.
The goal is for the graduates of this class to join hundreds of former graduates in working together to make a better Brownsville and Haywood County. Members of the Leadership Haywood County Board of Directors lead the program, which began in 1994.
