Five HHS A/V students had a great opportunity of hands-on experience in the audio-visual field at a Jackson Generals game. Pictured are  Emily Pugh, Kalyn Emerson, JT Byrum, Kayla Crawford, Wandaryku Young, Jacob Smith and Avery Harris.

The Haywood High School A/V students had the special privilege to work at the Jackson Generals baseball game on May 1. Special guest, JT Byrum, ran the scoreboard for the game. Kayla Crawford streamed online video directly to the MiLB network. Jacob Smith, who is an employee of the Jackson Generals, was the soundboard operator. Wandaryku Young and Avery Harris were the video camera operators for the video board and online streaming. Kalyn Emerson was the video switchboard director.

Thanks to former HHS student, Emily Pugh, this was all possible. Emily is the Production Manager for the Jackson Generals. She is a junior sports marketing major at The University of Memphis. Emily arranged this opportunity for these HHS students. Emily said, “I’m honored to be able to give back to my roots by giving these kids a jump start in the industry and hands-on experience. I hope to be able to continue to use my talents to give back to a town that gave me so much.”

A/V teacher Allyson Byrum said, “So proud of my students! Catherine Hamilton and I got to see all of the behind-the-scenes action during the game. We want to thank Emily and the Jackson Generals staff for this amazing opportunity.”
