HHS’s Emma Clagg first DSCC dual enrollment student to become NREMT and EMT
Emma Clagg of Brownsville, Tennessee, graduated from Haywood High School in May 2021 as Dyersburg State Community College’s (DSCC) first dual enrollment student to become a licensed national registry of emergency medical technician (NREMT) and a Tennessee basic emergency medical technician (EMT). In addition, she earned certification as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) later that month.
Clagg will continue her education with DSCC’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program during the fall semester at the Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County to become an advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT).
“Emma Clagg is proof that our EMS program is not only geared for the working adult but also high school seniors,” stated Baker McCool, DSCC EMS program director. “We are proud of Emma and her accomplishments, and we are excited to have her back here with us in the fall for AEMT. Emma and all of our EMS students are part of the DSCC family, and we encourage and welcome all who are ready to learn how to become a servant of their community in this rewarding, demanding and fast-paced career.”
