School Coordinated Health addresses needs of students with asthma
Each year Coordinated School Health and the school nurses have fourth-grade students who have asthma attend a four-week class to learn more about the triggers of asthma in the home, at school, outside, and other places. They also learn the warning signs for when they need medical attention and how to handle situations when they are away from their parents or in different locations. They even learned about some professional athletes who have not let asthma stop them from becoming famous. “Congratulations to these students who completed the class,” said School Health Coordinator Cindy Smith. “They were already very knowledgeable about asthma, and now they know even more!”
