Haywood Healthier Meals
NEW SCHOOL LUNCH REQUIREMENTS
According to Haywood Schools Nutrition Director Alison Pyron, the 2012 New nutrition standards for school lunch meals are great news for Haywood County Public School students. The School Nutrition Program (CAFETERIA) is looking forward to serving more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lower fat milk, trans-fat free food items and healthier entrees’ in the school cafeterias.
Students will be allowed to make choices on what foods they want on their food tray at lunch, but will be REQUIRED that one of their choices be at least one fruit or one vegetable serving, in addition to the other choices that are offered on the menu. This is a new requirement of the National School Lunch Program that operates in our schools and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.
PREPARE for A +++ A Great lunch that will offer the delicious nutrition you need to look and feel great—do well in school and sports—be fit, healthy, and ready to learn.
THANKS FOR LETTING US HELP TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HEALTHY!
