Haywood Homecoming 2019
Haywood County doesn’t take it’s high school football homecoming lightly. In true Haywood form the halls of the high school were decorated by each class, the week was filled with themed days, businesses locked their doors so everyone could watch the parade and ultimately end the day with tailgates parties and the big game against Liberty Tech.
This years’s game had the incredibly special honorary Captain, Clayton Pinner. This guy was born the biggest Tomcats fan ever! He began his ‘career’ in the stands as a small child but quickly began sporting jerseys, cheering on the team and doing some sideline coaching. It wasn’t long until he was on a first name basis with players who teetered with confusion of whether they were cheering for him or he cheering for them. But there was no uncertainty of his devotion to the Tomcats! Clayton IS a Tomcat.
As half-time came and the festivities began, young ladies took to the field in their lovely dresses and stood with their escorts as class representatives and homecoming royalty.
Class Representatives were: Freshmen, Lakiya Boyd and Latia Hines; Sophomore, Madison Dancy and Ce’Airea Chapman; Junior, Marquasia Woods and Elizabeth Carpenter.
The homecoming royalty were: Emani Hopkins, Brionna Folks, Nyana Whitelaw, Riley Simmons, Brakiah Hudson and Keresa Woods. Congratulations to Riley Simmons on being elected the 2019 Homecoming Queen.
The Tomcats went on to take the victory!
