HMS celebrates homecoming 2021
Haywood Middle School celebrated homecoming last week. The festivities kicked off with wacky-tacky student-wide dress-up day, followed by spirit day then culminated Tuesday, September 7 with the presentation of the homecoming court and a huge football victory.
HMS Tomcats dominated the Ripley Tigers in a 52-0 win. Highlights of the big game included a receiving touchdown and two pick-sixes by Caden Harris, a touchdown by Cyterion Miller and another TD by Carlos Hines.
The homecoming candidates were presented during halftime. Representing the seventh-grade student body was Jordan Lane McNabb and Kimora Hurt. Eight-grade representatives were Kennedie Young and Erin Hudson.
Miss McKenzie Gaines, HMS eighth-grader, was crowned as the school’s 2021 Homecoming Queen. Sariah Holmes, also an eighth-grader, was first runner-up, while seventh-grader Jayla Jarrett was second runner-up and Shelby Young, also in the seventh grade, was named third runner-up.
