New cafeteria tables at two HCS schools
Many Haywood County School students dined at new cafeteria tables this week. Over the weekend, East Side Elementary and Haywood High School were the proud recipients of new lunchroom tables, 11 for the Wildcats and 24 for Tomcats, providing seating for more than 250 at each location. The sleek, modern upgrades were federally funded compliments of ESSER, the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief fund, part of the economic stimulus distributed to public schools in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. HHS Principal Brittany Avent said of the fashionable furniture, “Our beautiful Tomcat graces several of the tabletops. We are so excited that now, even at lunch, we can display our Tomcat Pride!” The existing high school tables were recycled and now serve the students at Sunny Hill Intermediate School.
