Brian Ivey and Denita Jarratt Teachers of the Year
Selected as Teacher of the Year at Haywood High School is Brian Ivey. He is a Biology I teacher and has been teaching for 12 years. He is also the District Level Teacher of the Year, Grades 9-12.
Mr. Ivey holds a BS Degree in Education with an endorsement in Secondary Biology. He also holds a Master of Science in Education Degree with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision. He taught several years before coming to HHS in 2002. He then taught one year at HMS, and came back to HHS in 2004 where he continues to teach.
He is a member of TEA, the HHS Leadership Team and serves as the HHS Science Department Chair.
Denita Jarratt is the HHS Career and Technical Teacher of the Year for 2012-2013. She is a five-year teacher and teaches Family and Consumer Science. Mrs. Jarratt holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design with a minor in business. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of Gamma Beta Phi. She then earned her teaching certificate from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Mrs. Jarratt has been teaching at Haywood High School her entire career. In addition to Family and Consumer Sciences, she teaches Child Development, Life Connections, Housing and Interior Design to ninth through 12th graders. She also taught Babysitting in the AAA Summer Express program.
