C & T students learn from speakers at Career Expo
The Career and Tech Division of Haywood High School, under the direction of Director Pam Diebold, held a Career Expo on January 30. Each teacher welcomed guest speakers to their classrooms to share their knowledge and experiences with the students.
Visiting Mrs. Julie Taylor’s health science classes were Heather Donahue, RN and Lisa Dennis, RN. Mrs. Kristen Carlton’s classes were also on hand to hear Mrs. Dennis, and earlier she had Jeremy Jaynes, an EMT, speak to her classes.
Tiffany Thomas, Tenille Short and Travis Wade from the U. T. Extension office came together to speak to the students in the FACS classes under the direction of Denita Jarratt and Sarah Haynes.
Skipper Moss, who teaches Construction Core & Electrical I & II, had several visiting speakers in his class. Mr. Ed Granberry, Mr. Flagg and Mr. Taylor, all who work for Haywood County Schools; Greg Vanstory, an employee of MTD; and Kenneth Emerson, former teacher for the classes, each spoke to the students about their job experiences.
Vickie Noles, the culinary arts teacher, welcomed her father, Jimmy Sinis, to her classes. He is an entrepreneur and restaurant owner. Paul Jackson, a food photographer for PictSweet, also talked to the students about his photography and food art.
Paul Jackson, who also has a studio for sound and video production, talked to the Broadcasting classes of Rita Hathcock. He is also a former talk show host for Brownsville Radio and a musician.
Agriculture teachers John Joyner and Garry Butler had several guests, including George Moss, local veterinarian; Walter Battle from the Ag Extension Service; and Jacquelyn Steel from John Deere.
Blake Beckham of Freed Hardeman, a Financial Planner, spoke to Mrs. Julie Davis and Mr. Orentheus Taylor’s business classes.
