Opal Hay, Parent/School Coordinator, along with Karen Jones, TSU Extension Agent, and Jackie Whitten, GEAR UP TN Site Coordinator, formed a partnership with the Healthy Haywood Coalition and Drew Magruder to hold the first “Walk & Line Dance with Drew & Friends” on Saturday, May 23, at the John B. Hooper Memorial Stadium. The purpose of the walk and line dance was to increase awareness of the free services provided by the individual organizations who sponsored the event.

Sixty-two people came to walk and line dance to a variety of music selections, including country and rock. Jimmy Craig led the dances and Pug Fuller provided the music. There were several gift bags given away, including a framed photo of the Tomcat basketball team that was autographed by Coach Kendall Dancy. Special sponsors who provided items to hold the event or door prizes were Tee Shirts Plus, Flex Fitness, InSouth Bank, Brownsville Parks & Recreation, the Tomcat Basketball team, Haywood County Schools Parent/Family, Haywood County GEAR UP TN, and UT/TSU Extension.
