Walmart honors HMS teachers
On Tuesday, October 24, 20 educators at Haywood Middle School received funding – $50 reward cards from Walmart – to offset classroom expenses during a ceremony at the school. These gifts are part of the Walmart Teacher Reward program. Teacher Rewards will donate up to $4.5 million to provide 90,000 teachers across the United States with reward cards.
“We are proud to honor our community’s teachers, who give time and often their own money to ensure our students have everything they need to be successful throughout the school year,” said Tonya Adams from Walmart. “At Walmart, we are dedicated to supporting our nation’s teachers by providing them with the support and resources needed to continue educating the future leaders of our country.”
The 20 teachers who received $50 gift cards were: Taylor Wilson, Mindy Jones, Latisha King, Kevin Doan, Rachel Dryer, Ray Clark, Dana Hobock, Ernic Jackson, Rhonda Jones, Maxie Nelson, Shelia Turner, Willliam Grissom, Shelia Turner, Shaquana Leonard, Jimmy Wilson, Tami Roland, Greg Bontrager, Charita Adams, Lashell Evans and Star Dunning.
Walmart treated the entire teaching staff to punch and a cake following the awards ceremony.
