Kindergarten class gives to children at Le Bonheur
Over the past few weeks, Miss Elizabeth Becraft’s kindergarten class at Anderson has been involved in a Christmas project. Miss Elizabeth wanted her class to understand the verse, “It is better to give than to receive,” so she had them participate in a “giving” project in which they collected toys and made Christmas cards for children who will be spending Christmas at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Miss Elizabeth introduced this project to her students by sharing and showing pictures from her experience working with children and families as a Child Life intern at the hospital.
The most beneficial part of this project was that the students got involved in a hands-on way. This project was very important for one student who talked with the class about their experience being in another hospital for surgeries, one of them being over Thanksgiving a couple years ago. One student, Destiny Pruitt, asked her dad if she could use her own $25 allowance money to buy toys for the children. Destiny picked out and bought 25 toys. We are so proud of Destiny for her generosity! Miss Elizabeth would like to thank the parents and students for helping collect a total of 107 toys and making about 40 Christmas cards!
