College Application Week was held October 24-28
At the end of College Application Week, Haywood High School seniors had completed 210 applications to college since the beginning of school. The majority of the applications were completed during College Application Week. “We are so proud of our seniors,” Guidance Counselor Lara English said. “We had great participation from our students and staff.”
The week also included a trivia competition. The staff was asked to fill out forms and post outside of their room the name of their alma maters. The question for the students to figure out during the week was, “What staff member received a degree from a school the farthest from Brownsville?” The answer was Col. Stark Davis, who attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jamira Hunter answered correctly and won the drawing for a $64 gift card. After the seniors completed an application, they submitted their name for another drawing. Blake Bond won a Toshiba Laptop, and Brionna Fields won a Kindle e-reader. Our donors for the prizes were: Lee Berry, State Farm; Jim McAdams, State Farm; Insouth Bank, represented by Alan Callery; First South Bank, represented by Della Liggons and Larry Hill. Thank you to our supporters!
Abby Nichols with Redi partnered with Haywood High School to present the seniors with this great opportunity.
