Haywood Elementary Has A Lot Going On!
Besides rigorously educating their students, the administrators and staff at Haywood Elementary are planning a 5K walk/run for April 30. The fund-raising event is for the purpose of raising money to help fund their new greenhouse/garden. Samantha Sammons from HES, Haywood County Solid Waste, and Coordinated School Health are teaming up for this project. The goal is to allow students to help grow vegetables to share with other students while learning a lot about science!
The areas of science they plan to work on are … increasing our health by eating vegetables, learning about how things are grown (plant life cycle), how healthy bodies improve learning, and how to improve and take care of our earth. WOW! That’s a LOT TO LEARN! We will be sending out flyers soon for participants to return. One of the things participants will get for sending in their forms (with their money) on time is a REALLY COOL T-shirt designed by Brianna Jones in Mrs. Anita Matthews’ class. Picking the winner was really hard, since there were so many great pictures from which to choose! The picture will be on the front of the HES Project Greenhouse run/walk T-shirts. We can’t wait and hope you will all come join us on April 30!
