HMS Band participates in Solo and Ensemble Contest
On March 18, nine members of the Haywood Middle School Band traveled to Crockett County Middle School to take part in the annual “Solo and Ensemble Contest,” sponsored by the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association. For the last several weeks, the students have been rehearsing for the event, preparing a variety of solos, duets, and trios. At the contest, each soloist or ensemble played before a judge and was rated on a scale from 1-5 (with 1 being the highest score). All of the students attending from HMS received a 3 or higher. Ribbons were awarded to those scoring a 1 or 2 (2 being “excellent” and 1 being “superior”). All together, HMS students were awarded 12 ribbons!
The scores were: Sanjuanita Reyna (clarinet solo): score of 2, Dejah Lewis (clarinet solo): score of 3, Bria Grant: (alto sax solo): score of 2, Titus Newble (alto sax solo): score of 2, Josh Currie (alto sax solo): score of 2, Dylan Wilson (trumpet solo): score of 1 (Superior), Dominic Gaietto (trumpet solo): score of 1 (Superior), Tyler Morton (trombone solo): score of 2, Dominic Gaietto and Mia McKinney Gaietto (trumpet duet): score of 2, Bria Grant, Titus Newble, and Josh Currie (alto sax trio): score of 2.
Congratulations to these hard-working and talented members of the Warrior Band! The Warrior Band is directed by Mr. Jason Spraggins.
