Superintendent Teresa Russell announces each month as new business a celebration of Haywood County Schools. Tuesday night, May 14, she presented Walker Thornton and J. P. Barden who attended SCOPE as HHS representatives. They talked about the “Student College on Policies in Education” and about some of the issues they discussed with other students across the state.

She also read a letter written to Col. Stark Davis who leads the HHS JROTC program, congratulating him and his unit on receiving the highest ranking during their recent inspection. Leading the cadets with Col. Davis is Sgt. John Parker and Major Delois Dailey.

Career and Technical students also made presentations about activities in their respective classes/organizations. Connor Coulston told board members and guests at the meeting about a recent trip he and his broadcasting classmates made to MTSU to tour their Communication Department. Students speaking about their respective groups were Ebony Clark (FBLA), Kaitlyn McBride (HOSA), Alyssa Campbell, Samantha Goodman and Amanda Rogers (FFA), Recarnecia Johnson and Nikki Cummins (Criminal Justice) and Aisha Shaw (FCCLA).
