Culinary students “treat” School Board members
When the Haywood County School Board met on Tuesday, January 9, in addition to taking care of business, they enjoyed several snacks made by students from the Haywood High School Culinary Arts classes. The students also made a presentation about their classes and lessons and expressed excitement and appreciation about what they are learning.
Teaching the class is Kim Marble, and the students are Raven Harville, Ontario Woods, Martin Welch and Alex Williams.
There are four years of Culinary Arts classes in which each year’s curriculum builds skills on what they learned the year before. The students were very interested in the possibilities that the classes can prepare them for a future in the food industry. Some of the jobs they can explore are food stylist, caterer, nutritionist, executive chef, food scientist, and personal chef.
