Dawn Lovelace Teacher of the Year

Haywood Elementary teachers chose Dawn Lovelace as their Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Lovelace is librarian for students in the first through third grades.

Mrs. Lovelace earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas, and she earned a specialization in reading. She then earned her library endorsement from Lambuth University in 1998. She was first employed by Haywood County Schools in 1994 to teach at East Side Elementary. Since then she spent three years teaching at Haywood Elementary, then later taught at Fayette Academy before coming back to Haywood Elementary.

Mrs. Lovelace is a member of the CEAI, ADK, Regional Friends of the Library Board and serves on the Imagination Library Committee. She has served as a mentor for three years and served this year as chairperson of Career Day at Haywood Elementary.

Mrs. Lovelace has been a AAA teacher for the past three years, and served on the SACS committee at her school. Mrs. Lovelace has also received several mini-grants over the last few years and several other grants for books for the library as well as two computers and the Ready to Learn Reading program.
