Deonte Brown competes in state cross country meet
HHS Senior Deonte Brown represented Haywood High on November 2 when he competed in the Tennessee State cross country meet at Percy Warner Park in Nashville. He finished 39th out of 188 runners with a time of 17:59 in the 3.1 miles (5K) race. His coach at HHS is Whitney Beard, and his trainer is Steven Reagan.
Deonte has been on the HHS cross country team for four years. This year he competed in nine meets and finished in the top 10 in all but two of them. He best time has been 17:27. He is now training independently to run in a national meet that will be held in North Carolina in late November.
He is the nephew of Freddie and Roy Drummer.
