Dontai Anderson receives appointment to USAF Academy Prep Schoo

Haywood High School student and AFROTC Cadet Dontai Anderson has accepted an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School, according to Lt. Col. Stark Davis.

This appointment is the equivalent of being offered a full 1-year preparatory school scholarship. Dontai competed with more than 9,000 other highly qualified high school students, and is one of only 240 to receive this offer. He will enter the Air Force Academy Preparatory School, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this summer as a cadet candidate. While attending the Air Force Academy Preparatory School, Dontai will study mathematics, English, science, and military history and also participate in strenuous military training and athletic programs. As a cadet candidate, the Air Force will provide his room and board, tuition, and a monthly pay of about $929. Upon successful completion of the preparatory school, Dontai will have an opportunity to be appointed to the United States Air Force Academy the following year, and ultimately be able to earn a bachelor of science degree and a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force. His goal is to become a U. S. Air Force fighter pilot.

“I am proud of the hard work and effort you have put forth which has brought you to this point in your life,” said Col. Davis. “I wish you all the best in your future Air Force career. Again, on behalf of the United States Air Force and the Director of Admissions of the Air Force Academy, congratulations!”

Dontai is the son of Damon Anderson and Tory Taylor. He is a member of the HHS Beta Club, Bible Club and the Academic Decathlon team. He is also a member of ROTC Kitty Hawk Honor Society, the Tomcat Band where he plays trumpet, the HHS Track and Cross Country teams and the Spanish and Library clubs. Dontai attends East Jefferson Church of Christ.
