East Side Celebrates Veteran’s Day
East Side Intermediate School faculty, staff and students celebrated Veteran’s Day on November 11 by holding a ceremony, welcoming several speakers who are veterans. After the Presentation of Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance and a rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner,” several students presented “In Flanders Fields,” a war poem written during World War I. Speaking to the students were Lt. Col. Joseph Stark Davis and Nigel Peeples, also a veteran. Other students participated in the program with song and words, and all veterans among the guests were recognized.
