East Side holds father-son “Shoot-Out”
East Side recently held a father-son basketball “shoot out,” sponsored by the Chronic Disease Grant Team, who are providing activities to promote activities to reduce obesity, lower blood pressure and diabetes in our county. UT Extension, with the help of Coordinated School Health and the Health Department, hosted the event. Forty to 50 East Side students and their fathers or adult partners shot hoops for two minutes each to see who could shoot the most hoops!
Winners were: 5th grade, second place – Trevon Holloway with Terrance Holloway; 5th grade, first place – Emmanuel Garrison with Brett Grant; 4th grade, second place – Monterrion Woods with Maurius Transou; 4th grade, first place – Anthony Brewer with Tyrone Brewer
There were 64 participants and 68 spectators, for a total of 132. Second-place winners for both grades won a trophy, and first-place winners won a trophy and a pair of Grizzlies/Miami Heat basketball tickets! What a fun way to get healthy!
