Haywood Elementary selects Nan Naylor as Teacher of the Year
Nan Naylor was selected as the Teacher of the Year for Haywood Elementary. She has taught first grade there for 17 years. She is a graduate of the Union University with a Bachelor of Science degree and holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. Mrs. Naylor’s leadership activities over her career include First Grade Lead Teacher, mentor for first grade teachers, eClass in-service, numerous other training sessions and in-service, service on numerous in-school committees and currently serves as the Pacing Guide for first grade. She was the 2010 Brownsville States-Graphic Elementary Teacher of the Year and the 2005 Building Level Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Naylor believes her greatest commitment to her community is through her service at her church. She has participated in Vacation Bible School, choir, AWANA and Life Action. “This gives me the opportunity to interact with children of different ages,” she said. She and her family also support the work of the local Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, and are very active in sports.
