More than 200 eighth graders, the Class of 2018, gathered in the Haywood Middle School gymnasium on Tuesday, May 20, to participate in a promotion ceremony. Mr. and Miss HMS, Tristan Taylor and Temple Taylor, welcomed the crowd, and the HMS Glee Club sang “Share Your Good Will,” before the ceremony began. Recognizing the Top Ten was Guidance Counselor Michelle Brasfield. HMS Principal Yvette Blue introduced the speaker for the evening, HHS Principal Dr. Jerry Pyron. Presenting the students with their promotion certificates were Ms. Blue and Assistant Principal Jennifer Donald. Congratulating the students after they received their certificates was Superintendent of Schools Teresa Russell.
