Haywood Middle School Teacher Of The Year

Mrs. Rachel Dreyer has been with Haywood County Schools for three of her five years of teaching. She is presently teaching seventh-grade math at Haywood Middle School where she is a valuable member of the team. She has led and facilitated many professional development sessions and is a champion for “Accountable Talk,” which teaches students to be “leaders” in their classes using questions and discussion.

She has represented her school on the national level by presenting at the 2015 AMLE Conference (Annual Conference for Middle Level Education) and will present at Union University’s Lifelines for the second year. Accountable Talk has also helped her students develop their reasoning skills and the ability to ask questions and support their own views. Mrs. Dryer is a leader in her church where she teaches Bible studies and leads small groups. As a Level 5 teacher, this teacher’s success is proven by the success of her students. Assessment data, TCAP and TVAAS scores are evidence that her methods of instruction work.
