HHS FCCLA Host For STAR Events

The Haywood High School FCCLA was the host and participated in the district STAR Events on March 11 at Christ Church. One-hundred- and fifty students from 10 surrounding counties competed. STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning.

We are pleased to announce that Haywood will be representing us at State competition in all three Creed divisions. Jada Shaw placed first with a gold medal in the senior division. Mikala Leath placed second with a bronze medal in the junior division. Victoria Perry placed first in the occupational division with a silver medal. Immy Riley earned fifth place and a silver medal in creed, senior. Aisha Shaw earned first place with a silver medal in Life Event Planning, occupational. Ashley Morgan and Chardae Douglas placed third in Life Event Planning, senior with a silver medal. All three will represent us at state. Jaylen Bledsoe received first place and a silver medal in Career Investigation, junior and will be going to state competition. Adara Donald and Caitlin Thompson earned first place with a gold medal in National Programs in Action, with the STOP the violence campaign. They will represent us at State Competition, which will be held in Nashville in April.

Sponsors for the Haywood organization are Mrs. Denita Jarratt, Mrs. Sarah Haynes and Mrs. Vickie Noles. They expressed pride in the students who helped make this a very successful event. They also want to thank all of the students who served as room consultants and runners for their hard work and professional behavior.
