HHS Health Sciences Students Partner With Coordinated Health
HHS Health Occupation Students of America partner with Coordinated School Health each year to conduct annual student health screenings in grades 2,4,6,8, and 9th-grade Wellness. Student Health Services and the Health Department provided training to students, showing them how to use the equipment that will be used to measure student health.
Health screenings consist of hearing, vision, height, weight, blood pressure, and determining each student’s BMI, or Body Mass Index. This information is recorded in every county in Tennessee and sent to the state Coordinated School Health office, where the data is compiled for county health rankings across the state. Health Education teacher Julie Taylor further instructs students about professionalism, confidentiality, and other issues related to the field of health services. Coordinated School Health is fortunate to have the assistance of these capable and professional students.
