HHS Holds Freshman Orientation August 1

Haywood High School faculty and staff came together Friday to welcome members of the Class of 2018. Most of the freshmen, some with family members, attended the day that began at 9 a.m. and ended at 3:30 p.m. Principal Dr. Jerry Pyron welcomed everyone and gave them the schedule for the day. Students, with their homerooms, attended four sessions conducted by teachers on student discipline, the WHHS News show, the dress code and a chat session. They enjoyed a hot dog lunch provided by the Gear-Up program, and afterwards, heard about graduation requirements, Gear-Up and saw the “Tomcat Rhapsody” video presentation. Following this presentation, students toured the buildings. From 2:30 to 3:30, Career and Technical, elective, sports and extra-curricular groups had displays in the cafeteria and talked to students about these activities at HHS.
