HHS Spring Sports Banquet Highlights Athletes
Haywood High School, along with PEP club members, held its Spring Sports Banquet on Monday, May 18, in the school cafeteria. Members of the school’s basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, tennis and track teams were recognized for their successes on the field, court and track.
Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Tim Seymour emceed the event and opened with the HHS 2014-15 Athletic highlights.
• In golf, team member Lauren Markowski played in the state tournament.
• In cross country, Reshada Dancy also competed on the state level.
• The girls’ soccer team recorded its first winning record in team history.
• The girls’ basketball team won district, were the district tournament champs, was regional runner-up and sub-state runner-up.
• The boys’ basketball team won district, district tournament, regional, sub-state, and state championship.
• The tennis team was district runner-up and Kyle Sills was regional runner-up.
• The softball team was recognized as an improving young team.
• The boys’ soccer team was district tournament runner-up and regional semi-finalist.
• The baseball team was district tournament champion, region champion and sub-state runner-up
• The girls’ track team had a USJ Invitational Meet winner.
• The boys’ track team had a Dyersburg Invitational winner,
Kortavious Jones was the Sectional Champion in the 400m (state qualifier), and Denarious Toliver was a sectional runner-up in the 200m (state qualifier)
