HMS inducts 49 new members into Junior Beta Club

On Thursday, February 6, Haywood Middle School Junior Beta Club members inducted into their organization 49 new members. Inductees were sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.

HMS Principal Yvette Blue welcomed everyone to the event, and Selena Leal presented the criteria for membership. Junior Beta Club president Tyler Morton, Vice President Mattie Ford, Secretary Mikala Leath, Treasurer Alexis Hines and Reporter Adam Jollo also participated in the installation, along with Tristan Taylor, and Amelya Cooper.

Principal Blue introduced speakers for the event, HHS Beta Club officers J. P Barden, Emily Pugh and Kelsey Collins. After their presentation, Assistant Principal Jennifer Donald introduced each member as they received their stoles and participated in the candle-lighting ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, new members recited the pledge led by President Tyler Morton.

New members are Alyssa Allen, Trevon Banks, McKenna Barken, Gemiah Bell, Jordan Bell, Cameron Bond, Bonnie Colbeck, Trever Dancy, Rebecca Davis, Cardaysia Douglas, Kayla Douglas, Chris Foster, Chloe Fry, Mia Gaietto-McKinney, Alexandria Goodman, Anna Haynes, Iverson Hines, Bradley Johnson, Brianna Jones, Tia Jones, Madison Kellum, Hannah Littlejohn, Jamia Matthews-Oldham, Abigail Meck, Preston Moore, Benjamin Naylor, Titus Newble, Chandler Nixon, Alexis Ocegueda, Whitney Ostrom, Kristoff Peet, Charles Phillips, Myles Pickens, Carson Pittman, Lauren Qualls, Breonica Reed, Alexis Rodriguez, Benjamin Rodriguez, Riley Simmons, Christian Spencer, Andrew Stanley, Noah Staggs, Brannon Taylor, Iyania Taylor, Temple Taylor, Massai Twitty, Kyon Washington, Amanda Watson, and Shanya Whitelaw.

The 49 new members bring the total of Junior Beta Club members at HMS to 101. Sponsors for the organization are teachers Jane Jameson and Mary Jane Williams.
