HMS proud of its garden
Haywood Middle School is serious about its garden! The gardeners have six raised bed garden boxes with different kinds of greens, along with fall flowers. Principal Morris Long, along with Mr. Sam Pyron, did most of the original work to get the garden started two years ago. Students in Mr. Pyron’s classes are the workhorses behind the project now, but all classes visit the garden for science, math, and or writing lesson material many times throughout the year. The food is cooked by the cafeteria and served at school. If you haven’t visited the garden, it’s worth a trip!
