HMS Warriors Walk
Haywood Middle School students are walking … four days a week! They are participating in “Warrior Walks” in an effort to be healthier. They walk during the second half of each lunch shift, weather permitting, four days a week. It’s a great time to get outside for a minute, get some exercise, and enjoy talking with friends. Warrior Walks are part of HMS’s plan to be in compliance with the Physical Activity/Physical Education (PAPE) law that was passed last spring. The PAPE law states that all students will be offered a number of minutes of non-structured physical activity outside of academic instruction time. The times differ for different age groups. The rest of Haywood Middle’s physical activity time is spent during homeroom five days a week. As of this year, all of Haywood County Schools are in compliance with this new law.
