Meet the HHS Valedictorian: Cameron Barr
Cameron Barr, the Haywood High School Class of 2023 Valedictorian, is the son of Jake and Tammy Barr. Throughout his academic career, Cameron has earned numerous awards including national rankings in the Academic Decathlon (various categories), tied for the highest male ACT score, and was the only graduating senior to be honored for completing his K-12 experience in 11 years. In addition to his academic achievements, Cameron also played football (freshman though junior year), baseball (all four years), and was involved in the fine arts program. When not focused on academics, athletics, or the arts, Cameron was actively involved with the Beta Club and DECA during his time at Haywood High School.
Cameron will continue his academic journey this fall at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he will be studying Aerospace Engineering. He was awarded an $80,000 scholarship from Embry-Riddle, the Margaret Ann Welch Memorial Scholarship ($1,000), the First United Methodist Church James Sumner Sharpe Memorial Scholarship ($500), and the INSOUTH Bank Scholarship ($5,000).
Congratulations Cameron and best wishes on your new journey!
