Students cast ballots in “mock” presidential election
On Election Day, adults were not the only ones voting for President. Students at Haywood Elementary School participated in a mock election where they had a chance to “vote” for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney. During the days before the election, teachers spent time teaching students about the candidates and the election process. On the day of the election, students were allowed to cast their ballots for the candidate they wanted. Some students even got stickers saying they voted! The final results for the mock election were 523 votes for Barack Obama and 159 votes for Mitt Romney.
