East Side students learn vocabulary

Ms. Griffith’s students were engaged in a carousel vocabulary activity. The purpose of the carousel process is to allow students to share their ideas and to build a common vocabulary.

Each station in the carousel housed one vocabulary word. At each station rotation, students had to come up with sentences for the vocabulary words so they could gain a clearer understanding of each word.  Students had to view all words that were posted in the room after they had a chance to come up with sentences for their assigned word.

Time is given, then, for students to discuss the sentences and how clearly the sentences conveyed the meanings of the words.

This carousel activity is a great way for students to learn the meanings of words without having to copy definitions!! #ReadersAreLeaders!
