Notice to Parents of HCS School Bus Children

TRANSPORTATION

The mission of the Haywood County Schools Transportation Department is to support a positive learning experience by ensuring all eligible students are provided with dependable, efficient and safe transportation services to and from their learning environment. Riding a bus to and from school in the Haywood County School System is a privilege not to be taken lightly. All students are expected to understand and observe good conduct, courtesy, cooperation, and respect for the authority of the bus driver and monitor.

For your convenience, the Bus Conduct Rules are available below. Please go over these rules with your student(s) to ensure they meet the Haywood County Schools Transportation Expectations.

If you are new to Haywood County Schools, please complete the Bus Registration form. Once completed, we encourage you to deliver the form to the school your student(s) will attend or visit our Central Office located at 900 East Main Street to deliver the registration form.

The forms require:

  • information about any special needs or medical conditions the driver needs to be aware of
  • location of any alternative address that the student may be riding to or from
  • name and phone number of the responsible adult at the alternative location
  • several emergency contacts

This form must be completed and submitted for students to begin riding HCS school buses. We typically expect a three (3) working-day lead time before students are assigned to a bus.
