HCS delivers aid to Waverly
Haywood County’s benevolent true colors shone brightly last week as the community rallied together to support fellow school district Humphreys County, whose schools were devastated in the catastrophic flash floods that swept through Waverly on Saturday, August 21. In a state-wide school supply drive coordinated by The Family Resource Centers of Tennessee, specific supplies were requested from each school district – Haywood County was tasked with collecting packs of construction paper and boxes of #2 pencils for the more-than 2,000 students currently displaced. “Once again, Haywood County showed our caring spirit with over 150 packs of construction paper and over 200 packs of pencils! I know the families devastated by the flood will be very appreciative of the generosity shown,” shared UT Extension agent Peggy Jackson.
