HCS Promotions and Appointment

Brittany Higgins

I am pleased to announce that Brittany Higgins has been selected as the instructional facilitator for Haywood Elementary School.  Ms. Higgins has been a teacher in Haywood County since January 2008.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Arts & Humanities from Freed Hardeman University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Tennessee at Martin.  During the 2013 – 2014 school year, Ms. Higgins was a Core Coach with the Tennessee Department of Education.  Please join me in welcoming Brittany to the leadership team at HES.

 

Grover Harwell

I am also pleased to announce that Grover Harwell has been appointed as the assistant principal for Haywood Middle School.  Coach Harwell has been a teacher in Haywood County since August 2007, and he served as the interim assistant principal at HMS from April 23-May 24, 2017.  He holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from Lambuth University and a MBA from Webster University in St. Louis, MO.  Coach Harwell completed his educational leadership work through Freed Hardeman University.  Most recently, he has been selected as a Tennessee Educator Fellow for the Tennessee Department of Education through SCORE.  Please join me in welcoming Grover to the leadership team at HMS.

 

Chris Davis – New Chief Special Services Officer

I am pleased to announce that Chris Davis has been selected as the chief special services officer.  In this role, Mr. Davis will work with 504, English Learners, and special education.

Mr. Davis is a native of Southwest TN, and he has worked in Lauderdale County for ten years.  He has served as a seventh grade inclusion teacher at Lauderdale Middle School, and he has been a business technology teacher at Ripley High School.  He has also assisted and coached in multiple sports during his tenure.  Most recently, Mr. Davis has served as an assistant principal at Ripley High School where he led the special education department and coordinated RTI and 504 services.

Mr. Davis completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee at Martin as a business education major, and he has a graduate degree in school counseling from the University of West Alabama.  He also holds an instructional leadership endorsement from Bethel University.

Based on his experiences and coursework, Mr. Davis will bring commitment, energy, and passion to his new role, and he will be an integral part of the HCS administration.
