Board of Education employees gathered for breakfast this week to honor Mr. Ernest Woods at his retirement. Mr. Woods has been employed by Haywood County Schools for 32 years; 10 years at Anderson, and for the last 22 years he has taken care of the grounds and facility at the Board of Education. Mr. Woods always reported to work at 5:30 a.m. and worked until 5:30 or after every day. He always has a smile and a word of praise or encouragement for everybody he saw. Most of the time you would find him singing or humming. He has been an outstanding example of joyful service to all, and we will most assuredly miss him. In fact, Mrs. Russell urged the BOE staff to adopt the TYOT policy, “Take Your Own Trash,” beginning January 5. We appreciate the excellent job he has done, wish Mr. Woods every happiness in his retirement and hope he gets some well-earned rest!
