Haywood High School Handbook

Haywood High School Handbook INTRODUCTION

This handbook will serve as a guide throughout the year. It con- tains the basic rules and regulations governing academic programs, discipline, attendance, student services, and extracurricular activities at Haywood High School.

The administration may change policies/procedures at their dis- cretion when deemed necessary. You should become familiar with the contents of the handbook, and you should make notes about any announced changes in or additions to this material. This is not meant to be an exhaustive policy book, but it is a snapshot of the proce- dures, policies, and regulations that most often affect the students of Haywood High School.

Each new school year brings opportunities for academic growth and growth in all areas of development. I am excited to announce Haywood High School’s implementation of The Leader in Me pro- gram. The Leader in Me will give us the platform to help each of our students to discover and develop his or her unique gifts and talents, and to exercise those gifts through leadership. We will focus on the following 7 Habits:

Habit 1:  Be Proactive (You’re in Charge)

Habit 2:  Begin with the End in Mind (Have a Plan)

Habit 3:  Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)

Habit 4:  Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)

Habit 5:   Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)

Habit 6:  Synergize (Together is Better)

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)

“It is my hope that we will enjoy growing together in these new opportunities!”

Mrs. Latonya Jackson, Principal
