“Reading Olympics 2018”
The 90 students who signed up for the Read to Be Ready summer reading program, will be learning about the Summer Olympics this year while they are doing team building exercises, reading, playing games and going on weekly field trips. The funding for this month-long summer reading program comes from a grant and the Board of Education.
There are two groups – one at Sunny Hill and one at Haywood Elementary. Teachers Krista Parker and Catherine Lester are directors for the program. The program began on Monday, June 4, with an opening ceremony at both schools. At Haywood Elementary, the HHS JROTC Honor Guard presented the colors, and Tyler Morton sang the National Anthem.
