HMS holds Career Fair
The 2nd annual Haywood Middle School Career Fair was held on Friday, May 6, to culminate Career Week. At the fair, the students learned about various careers from area businesses and professionals. Also at the fair, Mrs. Denise Phillips’s sixth-grade science students displayed their career projects they had completed using science terminology. During the fair, the students were able to view videos regarding Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities in high school, unusual career choices, and John Holland’s Codes (a theory of occupation choice based on personality). The students had several opportunities during the week to explore careers based upon their personality and other factors such as desired post-secondary education and income. HMS School Counselor Dr. Michelle Welch Brasfield said, “The students had a wonderful time exploring careers and planning their futures. Thank you, everyone, who helped to make Career Week successful!”
