Career & Technical Teacher Of The Year

Mrs. Vicki Noles (above) is the teacher of Culinary Arts at Haywood High Career and Technical School. She has four years of experience and all have been in Haywood County. She is a certified Work Based Learning Coordinator who offers students the opportunity to learn from experiences beyond the classroom. Mrs. Noles and her students prepare and serve meals for many, including the ROTC, the Haywood County School Board, the Brownsville March of Dimes, The Haywood County Leadership Program and Brownsville Mayor Bill Rawls’ “Healthy Eating Initiative.” She believes in differentiating instruction and engaging students in active learning. Observation scores, class awards, and student testimony are evidence that Mrs. Noles is a very effective teacher who inspires students to do their best.

Zandra Jones

Mrs. Zandra Jones has 32 years of experience and all have been with Haywood County Schools. She is presently teaching 10th grade Geometry at Haywood High School and is a Level 5 teacher. Mrs. Jones has represented the Math Department on the Haywood High School Leadership Team and the AdvancEd Committee. She has also served on the CTB/McGraw-Hill Test Bias Review Committee and has gained a wealth of knowledge by attending many trainings and workshops. This teacher has been a valuable community and church member. She has directed youth basketball camps, Christian youth education, and delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels Program. Coach Jones was the Freshman and Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach for 29 years. She has also coached volleyball and softball for Haywood High School. Mrs. Jones feels that by limiting the content and teaching in depth, her students have shown significant growth. Test data and student success stories are evidence of Mrs. Jones’ strong instruction in the classroom.
