“Five Little Turkeys”

Students in the Save the Children Afterschool reading program did some unusual reading this week. Once they guessed what was in the “IZIT” box, they read a cute poem entitled, “Five Little Turkeys.” Then they read about the vitamins that are in the bell peppers they used to make the turkeys. Their turkeys were made from different colored bell peppers, carrots, and Ranch dressing. Then they ate them! They liked the carrots better than the peppers, and Miss Cindy (School Health Coordinator) had to eat a lot of the red ones to convince students that they weren’t “hot” peppers. Most of the students ate the peppers, but some were not convinced. It was a fun lesson and we can’t wait until Christmas!
