Haywood Elementary Students Become Authors
Students in Mrs. Elizabeth Lovelace’s first-grade class at Haywood Elementary can now be called published authors and illustrators. During the month of February and in honor of President’s Day, the students learned about past Presidents and the job of a President. Students wrote rough drafts about what would happen if they were chosen President. After revising their papers, students edited their work by writing their final drafts in pen on glossy paper. They also illustrated a picture to go along with their writing. The students’ works were compiled and sent off to a publishing company.
Students were excited when a package arrived that contained their writings and illustrations in a real, hardbound book.
