HES Recognizes Students For Achievement
Haywood Elementary held its third awards programs of the year on Friday, April 19.
The Rotary Club presented a bicycle to a first grader this nine weeks, and again, the Brownsville Police Department donated a helmet. Winners are selected each grading period from students who have had perfect attendance for the entire nine weeks.
Each nine weeks a different character trait is highlighted for the school. One of the most special events during the awards programs is when letters written by the teachers are read aloud nominating a student in their classroom who displays that character trait. The trait for the past nine weeks was “Fairness,” and the recipients were all outstanding examples of this trait.
The Family Resource Center holds a “Happy Hour” after each award program and shares testing tips and healthy snack suggestions with parents to help maximize student performance during the coming weeks.
